Contributing to a healthier and happier world . . . two minutes at a time.
The Winners Circle Breakfast Club was founded in San Diego by a charismatic and dynamic minister, Terry Cole-Whittaker. After attending a WCBC meeting, Honolulu residents Roger Lane and Samantha Hampton were inspired to create Honolulu WCBC.
On June 17, 1980, the Honolulu Winners Circle was launched at the Ala Moana Hotel. It was an instant hit, filling the need for a gathering place where like-minded people could connect.
Following Cole-Whittaker’s model, meetings were held every Tuesday morning from 7:00 – 8:30. Emphasis was placed on an optimistic and practical creed, comprised of ten precepts. (Among them: To speak only with good purpose; To value our fellow people.)
Honolulu newcomer Pam Chambers accepted the role as director of Winners Circle. For nearly a decade, she recruited and trained volunteers, scheduled keynote speakers, emceed the meetings, and created special events that benefitted the community.
Throughout the years, over 25,000 breakfasts were served and hundreds of speakers took the stage. (A relatively unknown Tony Robbins spoke about his goal to become the most famous motivational speaker in the world.) Winning people with winning attitudes came from all walks of life to share their positive messages. Most weeks, the attendance was over 100. When Terry Cole-Whittaker came to speak, over 300 people packed the room.
Since Winners Circle’s final meeting in 1989, fans frequently wished that we could “do it again.”
With the help of a small group of five, we could and we did! On November 9, 2010 we recreated the magic that was Winners Circle. Co-founder Roger Lane was our keynote speaker and the event was sold-out.
We decided to meet quarterly. At each meeting, we support a deserving organization. Thus far, our recipients have been: The Hawaii Foodbank, Winners’ Camp, HUGS, Helping Hands Hawaii, and Family Programs Hawaii. At the end of each meeting, we raise as much money we can during the span of two minutes, thus contributing to a healthier and happier world . . . two minutes at a time.
To help us fulfill our mission, we invite individuals and organizations to be Winners Circle Partners. For information about the benefits of Partnership, please contact:
